Postdoctoral Opportunities
Biogen, the oldest independent biotechnology company, is launching its
first Postdoctoral program. We offer an intense environment for advanced
scientific learning, coupled with the excitement of gaining valuable
career experience in a commercial organization.
As a member of Biogen's R&D Postdoc team, you will conduct research in
one of the following critical scientific areas. These positions are
located at our World Headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts, providing
ready access to seminar series and events at some of the most
prestigious educational, scientific, and healthcare institutions in the
world.
Immunology
Working in this laboratory, you will investigate the function of genes
that play roles in inflammation, immunity and disease processes. You
will formulate hypotheses and identify gene function using molecular and
cell biology techniques in vitro and gene knockout, transgenic or viral
delivery approaches in mice. This position requires a PhD. A strong
background in immunology and molecular biology and experience in
characterizing mouse genetic models or models of disease are preferred.
Job Code: RC-PSTDC-LBX
Immunology
We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to investigate the role of
various TNF family members in different models of lupus and related
autoimmune diseases. Questions will center around the contributions of T
and B cell components, as well as adaptive and more innate mechanisms in
disease pathogenesis. A doctoral degree in Immunology and experience in
animal work are required. Job Code: RC-PSTDC-JBX
Molecular Cell Biology
A postdoctoral position is available to study molecular mechanisms and
gene networks involved in inflammation and tumor progression. Available
projects include, but are not limited to, the regulatory functions of
the lymphotoxin system and will employ a range of experimental
approaches, including signal transduction, RNAi-mediate gene silencing,
mouse models, and transcript profiling. Doctoral degree and strong
background in cellular immunology or cell biology, as well as experience
with mouse models, are required. Familiarity with the biochemistry of
signal transduction a plus but not essential. Job Code: RC-PSTDC-MLX
Computational Biology
We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to develop novel computational
approaches that are applicable to protein engineering. The candidate
will be working in a multi-disciplinary environment with access to
cutting-edge computing technology and software. In close collaboration
with research scientists at Biogen and with several academic partners,
you will apply the developed methods to protein engineering projects.
You will initiate and manage internal contacts and external
collaborations with academic parties in the area of protein engineering.
A PhD in the area of Computational Chemistry, Computational Biology, or
Structural Biology is required, as well as experience with 3D structural
information. Your technical skills must include programming in C/C++,
Perl or Java, and experience in UNIX. Job Code: RC-PSTDC-HVX
Bioinformatics
Successful candidate will develop and implement advanced algorithms and
tools for scientific literature mining and knowledge representation.
Working as a member of the Bioinformatics group, you will establish and
manage academic and industrial collaborations in the areas of
information extraction, knowledge architecture and classification. PhD
in Computer Science, Biophysics, or Computational Biology is required;
experience with relevancy scoring, text mining, knowledge architecture,
fuzzy logic, or inference engines desired. Job Code: RC-PSTDC-MRX
